Supriya Patel

Sacramento

“I am passionate about climate justice because I believe that the climate crisis, which is arguably one of the biggest existential threats that we face, is not being adequately addressed by our state government. It is time for California to become a leader in climate action!”

Riley Keum

Los Angeles

“I joined the Coordination Team because I was inspired by all of the young people who were fighting for their own futures and wanted to be a part of the fight for climate justice!”

Sarah Ricci

Bay Area/Los Angeles

“I am passionate about climate justice because I believe that environmental work should be centered on community. I joined the Coordination Team because I am super enthusiastic about our mission and I love the people I work with. I am proud of how strong our network of youth is and I am excited to keep working on our School Resolutions Campaign!”

Alex Masci

Bay Area/Ventura

“I am passionate about climate justice because I want to protect the futures of my generation and frontline communities and the Earth, all of which have historically been sacrificed for fossil fuel profits. The Coordination Team is very supportive and a great way to make a difference. We are the change!”

Natalia Armenta

San Diego

“I am passionate about environmental justice and including an intersectional lens. I joined the Coordination Team because I was interested in the work they were doing with the community. I am proud to be a part of them and help with the School Resolutions Campaign!”

Luchia Torro

Los Angeles

“As a youth living in California—contaminated with oil fields, pollution, and wildfires—I cannot stand by and watch as Governor Newsom allows Big Oil to condemn our future. I joined the Coordination Team to pressure our elected officials to prioritize our futures over our polluters.”

Nithya Raghunath

Bay Area

“As the daughter of immigrants from the Global South, I have seen how the climate crisis has impacted communities across the globe. I joined the Coordination Team to fight for marginalized communities that have been exploited by oil companies.”

Lizbeth Ibarra

Bay Area

“As someone who has grown up with environmental racism, I joined the Coordination Team because I wanted to see my community thrive without Big Oil continuing to harm us.”

Ian Ware

San Diego

“I am passionate about climate justice because climate change is the most pressing threat to life on this planet, and I believe that there is still a chance to do something about it. I joined the Coordination Team because I was tired of sitting on the sideline as our planet burned and our communities suffered. I wanted to take action.”

Cesar Aguirre

Central Valley

“Climate change is a larger scale result of the negative way that fossil fuels have affected smaller communities. CA Youth Vs Big Oil is a way to directly urge people in California to make the changes we need to stop the climate crisis.”

Theo Lequesne

Bay Area

“My name is Theo (he/him) and I live in Oakland on unceded Ohlone land. I joined the CA Youth Vs Big Oil coordination team to work with some amazing youth climate activists and because I believe action is the antidote to despair.”
